Gum Grafting Procedures
When recession of the gum tissue occurs, the body loses a natural defense which protects the bone beneath the gum tissue around the tooth. This recession can make the area difficult to clean, cause sensitivity of the tooth, and result in root decay which can lead to tooth loss. Additionally, the receded gum can be unsightly, affecting one’s appearance.
Soft tissue grafting rebuilds the lost gum tissue, to cover the exposed roots and/or increase the thickness of gum tissue to prevent further recession.
